Don’t chill out this Winter

As we all know, the winter months are fast approaching. This means that for a lot of Martial Arts Clubs, business will begin to slow down as people are somewhat hesitant to start anything new when the New Year is just around the corner. But that doesn’t mean you should also be slowing down! In this blog, I’ll be giving you a couple of tips to keep you on your toes while helping improve your business overall.

Prospects

Prospects

During the busy periods it can be difficult to keep up to date with prospective students who are constantly coming in and out. However, the winter period is a fantastic time to try and engage with them more. On the myMA system, we have automated reminders that are set to be sent out to potential prospects once they’ve signed up for a taster session.

However, that doesn’t have to be the only communication they receive. You can also send them a quick text/email on the system after class to check in with them, or even take them to one side after the session to talk about the class and get some feedback. It’s a lovely way to make them feel that the club cares about them, and if they do seem hesitant, find out what they are looking for.

For example, some students may feel the class is a bit too advanced for their fitness level. If you get many comments like this, it could be a good idea to start thinking about splitting classes up into Beginner & Advanced, if you haven’t already done so. Getting feedback from prospects can be very valuable in improving your taster sessions and therefore, increasing your sign ups.

Keeping up to date

I cannot stress enough how important it is to have up to date details for all your students. It’s very likely that at one time or another; you’ll need to contact them out of class. This may be due to a cancelled lesson, discounts on gear, or even a “missed you in class” text. If you have a bit of extra time on your hands, check through myMA, and with your students to make sure that all their information is current.

This will also help with the direct debit side of things. It would be pointless for us to send out a letter due to a failed payment if it’s going to a place they have not lived in for 4 years! If it is all kept up to date and there are any issues with their accounts/payments, we will be able to sort it out without needing to distract you from managing your business.

Editing your student’s details is a very simple process. You can now do this on myMA itself, without needing to submit it as an entire request to us. We’ve added the feature to edit all the personal details for students directly onto their profile – Nice and easy.

These are just a few of the simple points that can help you with managing and growing your club. I’m here to remind you all that even if you aren’t as busy as you’d like to be towards the end of this year, there are always things you can be doing to better your business.
