We’re half way…
We have hit the halfway point through the year… I know, where has the time gone, right? Well that’s the funny thing about time, you find yourself busy with something and it seemingly speeds up. Before you know it, that thing you said you would do next week still isn’t done and that was three weeks ago! Thankfully, there are some tips and tricks we can use to get time more on our side and less like it’s running away from us.
A Look Back
Back in January we took a look at way’s you could plan for 2016 in our ‘Now’s the Time’ blog post. Hopefully you made use of the tips within that blog to help get you organised for this year with your business goals and ‘to-do lists’ planned out. But we all know that even if you plan things out carefully, there can be unexpected events or issues that arise and get in the way of your plans.
If you found yourself having additional or unexpected plans coming into your carefully thought out business schedule for the year, it’s important to not let previous plans fall off the radar. Have a think back to what you set out to do and look over your year planner. If you come across a few things you may have unintentionally forgot about, make it a priority to refocus yourself and your staff and get things back on track. There is still half of the year left, no excuses!

A Look Forward
The future is one thing you might not be able to accurately predict, but it is certainly something you can prepare for. The easiest way to prepare yourself, is to… you guessed it, have a plan in place. This is something that will help you give you a solid direction of where you want to be with your business and will serve as a reminder to keep you focused. If other things crop up and try to get in the way, it allows you to sit down, look through it and decide how you can approach this new situation. Get your plans and objective written down and start working towards them. Don’t use the fact we are halfway into the year as an excuse to not re-adjust your planner for the year, use it as a time based incentive instead.
It’s never too late to get your business back on track with a plan. It doesn’t have to be super detailed (although this helps), just as long as it gives you clear goals to work towards.

A Look at Now
As the saying goes, there is no time like the present and this certainly is something that holds weight when it comes to your business. If you find yourself with a free moment (I know, this can often be a rarity), use it to develop your plan. You can even make yourself an attainable and easy business goal of spending time each week to look over and update your business plan. This is something you can action right now!
Taking time to invest in the development of both your business plan and business as a whole will see benefits in the long term. Setting time aside to look over and review your plan every week or two, helps you to remain focused, stay on track and highlight or even prevent issues before they happen.
