It’s very frustrating I think you’ll agree when you teach a student who is full of potential and skill and slowly but surely you can see them losing interest, dropping off, not turning up to class. And when you ask them “why aren’t you training?” the common responses are:
- I don’t have time
- I’m losing interest
- I don’t have enough money
What would your response to each of these barriers be? Having spoken to countless students/parents/Instructors over the years I am pretty confident that your gut responses would go something like this:
- This is your passion, make time.
- Remember why you started training and what you have gained on this journey. Regain your focus and commitment and you will find the love for the sport again.
- Assess where you’re spending your money and re-allocate it to the things you love i.e. training.
As a Business Growth Partner, we see the same trends in our own Instructors. We see Instructors with all the potential of running extremely successful and lucrative Academies, slowly decline in business. Cancellations rise and student sign-ups drop. It seems they have lost the motivation to market the business and concentrate on retention methods. And when speaking to these Instructors, what do you think their reasons are for business decline and lack of marketing activity?

Sometimes we all need to take a step back and re-assess what we have and why we do what we do. You don’t have to be an entrepreneurial business man or marketing guru, that’s what NEST is here for. You simply have to retain your passion for the sport and remember how important your service is to the community and the lives it changes. Stop making excuses and start taking your own advice, you’re more inspirational than you realise.
